Dresden, Germany, is a stunning city, also known as the "Florence on the Elbe". It was always the center of art and amazing architecture. One of the most famous buildings is the Zwinger, and don’t miss out on the Semper Opera House. Did you know that it also hosts one of the largest Christmas markets in Germany?
Your gateway will be the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport, and there are 4 ways to get here: rail, bus, taxi, and private transfer
NOTE: Berlin, Germany, used to have two airports - Schönefeld and Tegel, but they both ceased to exist in 2020.
Once you land at Berlin Brandenburg, you should go to the airport’s railway station. You will find it beneath Terminal 1 (Level U2). Trains are departing every 2 hours. Look for the Deutsche Bahn Intercity train. Your journey will be approximately 2 and a half hours long.
You will be paying between 20,00 EUR and 75,00 EUR for a one-way ticket, depending on the class you choose. For more information, visit bahn.de
If you do decide to travel by shuttle, you will first need to get to T1/2. That's where you will find bus terminal and the shuttle that goes to Dresden several times a day.
The company is called FlixBus, and the ride takes around 2 hours and 15 minutes. The service is not so frequent, but it is the cheapest option. You can purchase the ticket for about 12,00 EUR.
You will find taxi ranks in front of Terminal 1 on Level E0 at Berlin Brandenburg. You can recognize taxis by the cream color and “taxi” sign on the roof. Dresden is 170 km (105 mi) away. A licensed taxi should use the taximeter system to calculate a taxi fare.
If the taxi meter is not “broken”, you will be charged based on the 3 main criteria: an initial fee, a per-mile/km fee, and a wait time fee. The taxi ride will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, and you can expect to pay a minimum of 360,00 EUR.
It seems that taking the train is more convenient than taking the bus, but nothing compares to a private transfer. What is the first thing on your mind when you disembark? Naturally, you're thinking about how to reach your accommodation as soon as possible. You don’t want to waste your time thinking about where to find a shuttle or a train, and how often they go.
