Lyon–Saint Exupéry Airport is the international airport of Lyon, the third-biggest city in France. It is located approximately 20 km (13 mi) from the Lyon City Center. The airport consists of 2 terminals and is connected to Gare de Lyon Saint-Exupéry high-speed railway station Rhônexpress terminus. In 2019, the airport welcomed approximately 12 million passengers.
This is one particular airport that has no shuttle buses to the city center. Instead, there are trams called Rhônexpress. The tram operates on the route from the airport to the Lyon City Center - Part Dieu station all year long from 4:25 to midnight.
It will take you 30 minutes to get to the center. There are two stops on route to the center (and vice versa): “Vaulx-en-Velin La Soie” and “Meyzieu”, but you do not need to worry since your stop is the last one.
Children under the age of 12 travel free, young people (12-25 years old) will need to pay 10,00 EUR for a single ticket, while the ticket price for adults (25+ years old) is 15,20 EUR. Of course, you get a discount on a return ticket. In that case, young people will need to pay 19,00 EUR, while adults 26,70 EUR. These are all the prices when you buy your ticket online.
But if you decide to buy it at the airport vending machines, you will need to pay approximately 4,00 EUR extra.
ADVICE: You can buy a Lyon City Card that includes access to guide tours and numerous museums but also a return ticket from/to the airport.
If you do not feel like traveling by tram, there is private transportation. This is a convenient type of transportation for people traveling in large groups, with children, or with lots of baggage. Booking it is pretty easy, just in a few steps. You can choose the type of vehicle, payment method, and extras like child seats, additional stops, etc. The price is all-inclusive, meaning no hidden costs or extra charges. Your driver will be waiting for you at the arrival hall, holding a tablet with your name on it.
He will then help you with your luggage and take you to your car. Private transfer is a Door-to-door service, meaning your driver will take you directly in front of your hotel. If your flight gets delayed, don't worry! Our logistics team monitors all the flights, and your driver knows exactly when to pick you up. All our drivers are experienced professionals, speaking English and some of them even several languages. Book your private transfer today and start your Lyon vacation (or business trio) the right way.
