If you prefer to save money on transport, think about traveling by train. Not only will you save but you will also get to enjoy the amazing experience of a train ride through the stunning Austrian landscape. You will spend about 20€ on a ticket, but you will have to make several changes before you reach your destination. First, you will have to travel to Main Station (Hauptbahnhof).
From there you catch a train to Zell am See or Maishofen. Finally, you will need to catch a bus to Saalbach. This is a substantial downside. Your journey will be too long, with lots of waiting. You will also have to figure out how to reach your accommodation from the bus station.
Similar to the train, if you choose to take a bus, your bus fare will be cheap – about 15.00€ - but you will have to change in Zell am See.
The bus is running a few times a day, which might be a disadvantage, depending on what time you land. The trip itself takes about 2 and a half to 3 hours.
Salzburg Airport Taxi is probably what comes to your mind first. You will find taxi vehicles parked right outside the terminal building.
