Looking for transportation to Courchevel? Then you have come to the right place. Read our short guide and choose your best option. Courchevel is a part of the Three Valleys: the ski area of Meribel, Courchevel, and Val Thorens.
This world-class luxury ski resort has it all: 150 km of pistes for every skier from beginner to pro, lavish hotels, Michelin restaurants, and glamorous nightlife. But it is also popular as a summer destination. You can go hiking, mountain biking, cycling, horse riding, or even playing golf.
First of all, let us say that there are no direct trains from Lyon Airport to the ski resort. But the closest station is Moutiers, approximately 24km from Courchevel. The train ride takes about 2 h 40 min. From Moutiers, you have to take a taxi or other public transportation to get to your destination. It will take you 1 hour by car. Traveling by train, in general, is much cozier than by car.
You can take a walk, eat and drink, and with more legroom. On the other hand, it does not take you to your final destination, so you need to change transportation. And usually, you need to change trains depending on the route, and we can all agree - that is too much hassle.
Same as with the train, buses from Lyon Airport stop at Moutiers. The bus ride will take you 2 h 15 min, and the rate is approximately 48€. From Moutiers, you can catch a taxi or Courchevel bus to take you to your final destination.
This will take you an additional 1 h 10 min, and your one-way ticket costs around 13€. Traveling by bus is cheaper but much less comfortable and more time-consuming. If you wish to visit the villages of Courchevel, there is a free shuttle bus operating regularly. Here is the schedule.
You can easily find taxis outside the Lyon airport arrival terminal. Before accepting the ride, have in mind that the ski resort is 186 km from the airport so prepare yourself for the long ride. That is why we advise you to take a more comfortable car. The ride will take approximately 2 hours, depending on the traffic conditions.
Remember that price is not regulated, so you need to be careful not to get overcharged. The price starts from 350,00 EUR for a van that accommodates 8 passengers and can go up to 600,00 EUR. So, we propose to agree with your driver on the price before accepting the ride.
