Salzburg Luchthaven Shuttle

Salzburg, Austria, is a beautiful scenic city of old charm that has an extensive and efficient network of public transportation. The airport is directly connected to the city center by shuttle bus.

In this article, you will learn all you need to know about Salzburg shuttle buses from the airport to the city center.

Shuttle routes & schema's

You will find the bus stop quickly. Just head straight outside the Terminal building, past the parking area of Kiss & Fly. That is where the shuttle stop is. You can catch one of the two shuttles:

  • Shuttle number 2, headed to train station (Hauptbahnhof)
  • Shuttle number 10, which goes to the city center

As both lines are running several times an hour, you will not have to wait too long before getting on a bus. The shuttles are low-floor, comfortable, and eco-friendly.

NOTE: Be mindful that most of the Old City of Salzburg (Altstadt) are a pedestrian zone.

Shuttle number 2:

This line operates from 5:30 am until midnight, with reduced service during weekends, holidays, and nights. Your ride to the train station will be about 20 minutes long, with 14 stops. If you want to get off closer to the city center, continue your ride to Mirabellplatz (17 stops).

Shuttle number 10:

If you plan to go to the city center, take bus number 10 to Ferdinand-Hanusch-Platz station. Your journey time will be approximately 20 minutes. The shuttle runs in 15-minute intervals, starting from 5:50 in the morning until 22:30h.

Shuttle Tickets

To help you plan your Salzburg trip budget, we are listing some of your shuttle fare options:

  • Single ride

  • Short Trip fare
  • 9/17 fare

A single ride ticket starts at 1.90€ if you buy it in advance. Children under 6 travel for free, and youth and seniors get discounts. There are also weekly passes for longer stays.

USEFUL TIP: Get a Salzburg card which includes entrance fees to tourist attractions and free travel on public transport. A 72h Tourist Card will cost you 39,00€.

You can get the tickets online, through the app (smartphone), vending machines, kiosks (˝Trafiken˝), or onboard the bus.

Things to remember:

  • ticket must be validated on board the bus
  • If you buy a ticket onboard the bus, it will be pricier, and some of the discounts do not apply

Upon landing, you will be greeted by an English-speaking driver, who will escort you to the vehicle.
